ICON is Korea's largest public blockchain platform that's also one of the fastest growing in the world. The ICON protocol is currently being used by the Seoul Government, Samsung, LINE and several other industry leaders.
ICON Hyperhack is a 2 month online hackathon that opened registrations and submissions on June 19th and will last till September 14th. Since the hackathon and its prizes are online, there is no geographical limitation for anyone.
Build across a wide range of categories that include Decentralized Finance, Utility, and NFT & Gaming. ICON plans to provide support to teams that show promise to enable them to grow into main or side ventures.

Important things to note:
ICON has launched a SCORE (smart contract) audit system which you must go through to deploy your projects on the ICON testnet (requirement) and ICON mainnet (optional).
We have more than 100 participants who are currently listed on Devpost as “looking for teammates”. Follow instruction no. 2 below if you are looking to join or form a team.
Finally, if you haven’t already, make sure you do the following:
1. Join the ICON Developer Group on Telegram to find teammates and ICON developers, and feel free to ask technical questions regarding ICON development in there.
2. You can also find teammates on the Devpost Participants page which contains a list of all the participants looking for a team. In order to have the option to send a “request team-up” to participants, make sure your setting is set to “I’m looking for teammates.”

Requirements
Makers must do the following to participate in the Hackathon:
Build functioning end to end software utilizing ICON Smart Contract (SCORE) and/or interfacing with the ICON protocol in one of the above hackathon categories. The software can be a standalone app (front end + back end), SDK to be used with the ICON protocol, or web integration of the ICON protocol.
Testing and development of SCORE (ICON's smart contract) must be done on the ICON YEOUIDO testnet. This must be followed by a SCORE audit. ICON has launched a new SCORE (smart contract) audit system which you must go through to deploy your projects on the ICON testnet (requirement) and ICON mainnet (optional).

Categories: You must submit to ONE of the three categories.
1. Decentralized Finance (De-Fi)
Decentralized finance (De-Fi) category refers to financial applications that are being developed on the ICON protocol. Examples may include:
- Creating monetary banking services
- Providing peer-to-peer or pooled lending and borrowing platforms
- Enabling financial instruments such as DEX, tokenization platforms, derivatives and predictions markets
2. Utility
Utility category refers to useful ICON applications for non-technical or technical users. They can be applications used daily by the average consumer or technical developer tools that enhance ICON’s developer ecosystem. Examples may include:
- Useful Dapps for everyday use
- Developer tools
- On-Chain analysis
3. NFT and/or Gaming
NFT and/or gaming refers to NFT applications that deploy ICON’s NFT Standard or non-NFT based games that utilize the ICON protocol. Note: Gambling/Casino games will NOT be accepted. Examples may include:
- NFT Card Game
- NFT RPG Game
- NFT Marketplace
- Non-NFT based Blockchain Gaming
This list is not all-inclusive. Additional projects beyond the examples will be accepted in each category as long as they add value to the ICON ecosystem and fall within the confines of the category.
